SYS team member Capt. Chuck Royhl, CPYB recently brokered the purchase on an 86′ Burger for clients Jeff and Faith Weigt. After closing their deal, the Weigts needed to transport M/Y Hi-Banx from their purchase point at Old Port Cove in North Palm Beach to their home in the Tampa Bay area. Luckily for them, Capt. Chuck is a USCG masters licensed captain and also handled the delivery trip for them, assisted by Klint Wolden (a friend of the Weigts). Through near-perfect conditions, the 4-day cruise involved a tour of some very enjoyable marinas.
The first night’s stop was at the Miami Beach Marina, a full service facility in the heart of Miami Beach. Located adjacent to Government Cut, with no fixed bridges and plenty of deep water, Miami Beach Marina affords easy accessibility to great fishing…sailing…and cruising. The famous Art Deco District is nearby with exciting shopping and the night life of trendy South Beach. A wonderful dinner was enjoyed at Texas de Brazil Steakhouse located at the marina.
Day two was another clear and calm leg of the trip, putting in for the evening at the famous Faro Blanco Marina in Marathon. The Gulfside facility boasts 74 state-of-the-art slips with easy access from the Atlantic via 7-mile bridge and Moser Channel. On the grounds of a lighthouse overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the contemporary hotel is 2 miles from exhibits and trails at Crane Point, and 9 miles from the oceanfront Curry Hammock State Park.
Pulling out of Marathon, the next day was a long but straight trip up from the Keys to the Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina in Ft. Myers Beach. On Estero Bay, just 6 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico, overnight dockage and beach villas are offered to visitors. They also offer access to three pools, two restaurants, full-service spa and quarter mile of sugar white sand beach with water sports and unlimited entertainment.
The final leg of the trip was a run from Ft. Myers beach to Harborage Marina in St. Petersburg, where Hi-Banx will remain until a permanent spot opens at the Westshore Yacht Club. The Weigts are extremely happy with their new purchase, as well as to have found in SYS a brokerage that truly embodies the concept of “full-service”.
